Located in the newly-redesigned lobby of 100 Federal, Local Fabric is a web-based graphics application that weaves photos of Boston’s neighborhoods to create constantly changing tapestries. Designed using a grid-based system of rules, the application samples pixels and sections from a growing set of photos. No tapestry is ever the same, even when using the same photo.

From Back Bay to the North End, each image is a unique representation of the colors and patterns found in Boston’s diverse neighborhoods.

Business professionals hang out in an airy, sun-soaked lobby. A large LCD screen features a criss-crossing pattern of images and stretched pixels that looks like a deconstructed Boston neighborhood.

The LCD screen artwork can be seen through the massive glass exterior of 100 Federal.
